These are my final images that I selected for the exhibition. I have also included an image showing how I framed and hung them in the space. It was a great project to undertake that I really enjoyed.
I think your images were a mirror of your personality. Maybe i say this because i know you, but i think even if i didn't know you i would say that the photographer is a really nice person with lots of patience. Working with children is very demanding and stressful, so well done for that. Your images are so vibrant and full of character and personality. The colours of the backgrounds work really good for kids portraits. Well done, i think you picked a really interesting subject for the exhibition.
Jade, I think you have done extremely well with this project and this is by far your strongest work to date. Your subject choices were great, however in the future if you intend on making a business from professional work you should possibly pay for the best child if you are doing commercial work. The coloured backgrounds worked particularly well in the exhibition and the lines too. I think the facial expressions all worked well as they were all different. I think as they are commercial, they will fit in many galleries and public buildings. Definitely continue with this work you'll do great if you stick to it.
Jade your images that you have produced are amazing as they show the fun and cheeky personalities of children plus the your own personality. The way you displayed your photographs in the exhibition worked very well as you grouped the colours together in a very eye catching way. Well done.
I agree with Sam that this is your best project and you should be very proud of yourself. Your portraits are excellent and convey the children's personalities really effectively. I really liked your initial idea to shoot them with mug shot signs, however I understand that came with cost issues. Overall I think you've done really well :)
A wonderful, light hearted and bold series, you managed to capture each child's personality well and your decision to use different colours throughout the series really served to capture the viewers' attentions - I heard lots of positive feedback at the exhibition. As mentioned by the others, the success of the images proves your skill and talent for working with children - who could easily be the most difficult and demanding of subjects.
:P on the serious note this is actually quite clever. By asking them to draw the images and let them wear what they like and do whatever they want in front of the camera you have explored their personality and captured it creating very personal portraits. You have gave us an idea what kind of characters they are. I think having different backgrounds made the series more interesting and I like that you did not stick to colour stereotypes: blue is for boy and pink for the girls. The simple idea turns out to be quite strong project! Well Done!
Jade you are perfect for this job!, having seen you work with Asghar, who absolutely loves you. I can say that you have to follow this line of photography and it is your strength. The concept was a little time consuming, especial for the children to produce 3 picture, maybe one would have been fine. But other then that the format of displaying the images was great.
oh forget to mention, you could have had a smaller photographs(5x7) at the bottom, in smaller frames as the children couldn't really see there photographs. this would be a good for your next exhibition! and make it more interesting for the little visitors
